Welcome to George Ledger Sports Photography, the home of Sports and Action Photography in the North East of England.  I am a freelance Sports Photographer based in Consett, who both covers major national sporting events and also specialises in providing action photography for both local amateur teams and individuals within Schools, Youth and Adult Sports Clubs.

My goal is to take images that capture the emotion, enthusiasm and energy of the sport regardless of what level it is played at. I then produce images for you as an individual or your whole Team that are as good as those of the Professional sports men and women you would see in the newspapers and magazines.

I cover all types of sports photography, whether it is action shots, portraits, group shots, award presentations, indoors or outdoors, team sports or individual sports.

Bitterns in Newcastle

A very quick visit to a local wildlife reserve and an opportunity to see Bitterns. This is almost a new bird for me, as I’ve only heard them and seen them flying in the distance in more southerly areas of the country. However today after a very short walk I was fortunate to see a couple of them flying then desending into the reeds close […]

South Shields and Westoe 23 – 16 Consett RFC, Jan 2018

Consett travelled to South Shields Westoe for a double-header league/cup match. With the teams sitting 3rd and 4th (Consett) in the league and the added pressure of a County Cup Final place at stake, this was always looking to be a close, enthralling encounter. Durham County Rugby deemed that this match was a double-header due to the high volume of postponed games to be played […]

Middlesborough 0 – 1 Fulham FC, Jan 2018

Oliver Norwood’s penalty in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time gave Fulham victory at fellow play-off hopefuls Middlesbrough. The on-loan midfielder tucked in from the spot after he was tripped in the box by Boro’s Grant Leadbitter. Britt Assombalonga almost scored for the hosts moments before, but saw his effort come back off the crossbar. Assombalonga’s strike partner Rudy Gestede spurned two one-on-one chances in […]
