Consett RFC 27 – 6 Barnard Castle

Consett 1st team took on high fliers Barnard Castle at Amethyst Park, kick off was at the earlier time of 2:15 (to allow rugby fans to watch the last round of the 6 Nations) both teams promised lots of action as they were both aiming to finish the season well.

Consett started the sharper with a James Wheeler Try on 7 mins (converted by Dougie Patterson) and continued to dominate the first half adding points via an intercepted Try (and converted) by Patterson, they led 14-0 at half time.

The second half started in similar vein with a penalty from Patterson before Barny woke up and contested the game scoring their first points on 60 mins via a penalty kick. Both teams then exchanged successful penalties before James Wheeler scored another Try, converted by Patterson, to round off a very impressive win.
